![]() ![]() Reed said he will continue applying for additional grant money until all six department vehicles and about a half dozen volunteer firefighters are outfitted. Though the grant has been in place for seven years, this is the first year anyone in Portage County has been awarded funding. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. The funds will enable the Paris VFD to outfit three of its six vehicles, said Fire Chief Derek Reed. Government The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. The radios will allow law enforcement agencies, the health department, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Ohio State highway Patrol and fire departments to communicate with each other. The Paris Township Fire Department was recently awarded a $10,000 State Fire Marshal’s grant for digital radios. They aren’t accepting tires, paint or batteries.
